About Brenda Pomerance

Brenda Pomerance has been the sole proprietor of Law Office of Brenda Pomerance since January 1, 2000.  She has prepared and/or prosecuted about 2,000 patent applications, and provided advice relating to about 1,000 patents.

Clients include very large corporations (specialized patent work), small corporations and technology start-ups, individual inventors, and other law firms (specialized patent work).

Since 2005, Ms. Pomerance has been a guest lecturer at New York University Stern School of Business Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, and at New York Academy of Sciences.  Since 2011, Ms. Pomerance has been on the Advisory Board of Financial InterGroup Holdings Ltd.

Prior legal experience includes five years as a patent litigator and patent prosecutor at firm of 120 intellectual property attorneys, and five years as a patent prosecutor at a firm of 30 intellectual property attorneys.

Non-legal experience includes founder of an entrepreneurial venture, design of Wall Street trading systems, engineering for communications and computer systems, and consulting for communications/software projects including the U.S. military's version of the predecessor to the Internet.

Ms. Pomerance is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent Office, and is admitted to the Federal Circuit bar, the New York Eastern, Northern and Southern federal District courts, and the New York State bar.  She is a member of the New York City Bar Association, the New York Women's Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Owner's Association and the Licensing Executives Society.

Ms. Pomerance earned her Juris Doctor (JD) from Fordham Law School, her Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University, and Bachelors of Science (BS) degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
